The Turning 2026. An ongoing year-long series that began on January.2026
Each month explores a single color on one piece of silk, seeking colors that reflect the feeling of each season.
I work on it every day, pouring a layer without pre-treatment or chemical fixatives and allowing the pigments to flow, diffuse, oxidize, fade, and transform over time.
Each work becomes a record of duration, change, and the agency of the material.

Wenjie Feng (b. Kunming) is a Chinese American multimedia artist based in London, She recently completed an MA in Contemporary Art Practice at the Royal College of Art.
Growing up among the mountains and rivers of Yunnan shaped her sensitivity to materials and water. Her recent practice centres on natural dyeing on silk, alongside textiles, moving image, performance, and installation. Working with handmade pigments derived from plants, tea, charcoal, vegetables, and other natural materials, she embraces collaboration rather than control, allowing time, water, light, and natural processes to shape each work.
Through this sustained practice, she explores time, space, presence, mystery, love and loss, and the relationships between humans and the natural world. Daily acts of making have become a ritual of attention, trust, and presence, reconnecting her with nature while embracing uncertainty, imperfection, impermanence, and transformation.
Influenced by Buddhist philosophy, Zen, and the contemplative discipline of the tea ceremony, Feng creates contemplative spaces through colour, translucency, and the quiet power of empty space, where words fall away and a quiet spiritual connection can emerge
